Born on the coast of central Portugal on a Sunday in 1982.
Nitael started drawing from an early age, usually manga and cartoon characters or his favourite band's logos. With regular trips to Lisbon he was immersed into the huge colourful graffiti that covered the city and inspired his designs and painting on his first illegal walls.
Art lectures in secondary school ignited the passion for fine art, canvas and oil paint and allowed him to acquire more techniques and deeper explore the potency of art.

Nitael is primarily an autodidact artist. He works through a variety of mediums, oil painting, pencil or pen drawings, spray paint, and collage are his favourites. His main subjects are human figures, architectural and natural landscapes, and abstract portraits.
His aesthetically pleasing works are often characterised by his utilisation of bright surreal colours and sharp divisive lines. He paints mostly using a palette knife spatula, a small selection of magic brushes in combination with various techniques. He layers vibrant oil paint creating a heavy, textured image characteristic of his style.
With his eye for detail, he focuses on his technical approach. Dwelling on the balance between chaos and order, past and present, dark and light and the usual dichotomies of life. The message is usually subliminal, sometimes in your face or just non-existing. Nitael's work seeks to appeal to the viewer's feelings and emotions rather than the intellectualised discussion of art.
